Hello Hawks

These past two months have seen the release of the final MOD for EW, some great battles fought during campaign weekend, the release of some great new EW and DN maps and also the return of some of our great generals.

Firstly big thanks to Gex who has strived to complete the final version of his MOD. Big thanks to all those who helped to test the EWFV and help Gex to identify any bugs. Apart from the synch error its not hard to see how much work Gex has put into the final version with all those new units and many other extras. I was very impressed with the Indians, which were for the 1812 battles maps. Even though the majority of hawks prefer to play EWV3, Gex has provided Napoleonic gamers with the option of two possibilities, to play EWV3 with our historical maps or to go to the next level with FV.

As for campaign week ends, I think most people who have taken part have enjoyed battling it out with their team mates against the opposing side. Last month was not the most popular format, but that 3 v 4 at Caldiero was fantastic. Its still early days with the campaign weekends and some experimenting had to take place to see what did and did not work. I personally am looking forward to the Danube campaign with those classic maps. I look forward to seeing as many as possible throughout the campaign to have some great strategic battles.

Divided Nation is on the up and who better to drive it then hawk Stone, who has produced some stunning battle maps and is building up the hawks DN collection. Stone is also looking to host the first ever hawks DN championship and has already started a thread in the public forum. Voltiguer has recently released a new version of his DN MOD which will be used in the competition, so if you want to practice, then I suggest you do so with Voltiguer MOD. Many thanks to Voltiguer and Stone for the effort they are putting in, to making superb maps and realistic game parameters. By the way I played the battle of Mechanicsville with Vol, who gave me a hard lesson in ACW tactics.

We have had some lost generals return to the field the past two months, nice to see Stef and Axle back and also FG after teething problems with his new PC. I bet those infantry units are all like Olympic runners after the slow motion games on the old PC. Great to see you back on the field gents and Im looking forward to battling with you.

Marengo has just produced a great looking map of the battle of Durenstein and I must say that it looks very good. I hope we can get this one tested and published it looks like a great battle.

Well we all know that summer is approaching and battle activity tends to slow down with people wanting to be outdoors and also taking holidays etc. I myself have been having a break from active duty on the field but promise you that when campaign day comes about I will be primed and ready for war.

Have fun and see you all soon

Yours SW
