The Map Rules
The
French army (blue) is on the attack. The map has historically important
objectives marked by flags; the town, the Ventosa
Ridge and the road to the sea. Once the French players possess three of these
four Map Objectives (seen circled yellow) they are declared the winners and red
players must surrender. (Map Objective flags will turn your color when you
control the immediate area). There are no up-grades or building allowed. The
walled garden area found in the town provides cover as do the large rocks and
trees. As in the real battle, the defending British/Portuguese army is larger
than the attacking French. This makes it especially tough for the French, and
all the more important for red players to fight honorably and surrender
immediately if the French hold three flags at once. If it is obvious that the
French players will not be able to achieve three flags, they should “withdraw”
(surrender) to make the game more realistic and fun.
